On the 17th of December 2011 Seva and five other partners (Oikos, Cordaid, DFD, PSO and DCMO) organized a successful conference on the subject of migration and development: JUSTice do it! The program of the day consisted of workshops, best practices and a panel debate/discussion about knowledge and experience on some current issues.
The director of Seva, Mr. Radj Bhondoe, led the workshop on entrepreneurship against poverty. This focus on business is a new but popular concept for NGOs like Seva. The two guest speakers who were invited, Mr. Nanne Visser from DIBBIYA and Mr. Bikash Chowdhury Barua from BASUG, exemplified this by telling about their projects in development areas. With economic profit from their investments they try to reduce poverty in a sustainable manner.
The focus of the panel debate in the afternoon was on cooperation between the organizations, and there was also a chance for the participants to speak up. The official part of the day was closed with the ID- Challenge award for students and migrants, and afterwards there was time for some drinks and music.
